<br />
So here goes.... (and as always Spoilers! Not all but some.)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lZPLBqn33Ws/UikOJlRrtdI/AAAAAAAADZI/7dDQ8gKZTTM/s1600/6137153886_52300a9b25.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lZPLBqn33Ws/UikOJlRrtdI/AAAAAAAADZI/7dDQ8gKZTTM/s1600/6137153886_52300a9b25.jpg" height="282" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Four siblings and their partners gather together for their parents 35th anniversary... and yes they are gathering at their parents big in the middle of nowhere home.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ltPT4ptRJFQ/UikGk4VkEXI/AAAAAAAADYQ/SWTJp5ni8b4/s1600/1364894009_you_re_next-oo.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ltPT4ptRJFQ/UikGk4VkEXI/AAAAAAAADYQ/SWTJp5ni8b4/s1600/1364894009_you_re_next-oo.jpg" height="165" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Their only neighbors have been killed in the opening of the movie, so its already not looking good for the family.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-s8h2Qa79Rus/UikOj5qNqjI/AAAAAAAADZQ/PnRq5MuEU0o/s1600/youre-next-02.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-s8h2Qa79Rus/UikOj5qNqjI/AAAAAAAADZQ/PnRq5MuEU0o/s1600/youre-next-02.jpg" height="120" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
So the family, firstly we have Mother and Father, Paul and Aubrey, the rich parents.<br />
<br />
Paul and Aubrey have bought the house in the middle of nowhere to fix up, a project to work on since being forced out of his job with a tidy severance.<br />
<br />
Next up is eldest brother Crispian and his girlfriend Erin. She used to be his student. (much like the couple who are killed in the opening, Erik and Talia, who Aubrey says he left his wife to be with one of his students, as they drive past and up to the house.)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YYFpMx4Vzr4/UikO1wiLlsI/AAAAAAAADZY/nacZPKL0k3Q/s1600/BOWENYOURENEXTAMONGFEAT.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YYFpMx4Vzr4/UikO1wiLlsI/AAAAAAAADZY/nacZPKL0k3Q/s1600/BOWENYOURENEXTAMONGFEAT.jpg" height="109" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Then we have Drake and his wife Kelly, Drake seems to be the sibling that has followed his fathers footsteps into business.<br />
<br />
Then I figure Aimee is next age wise, with her boyfriend Tariq.<br />
<br />
And finally the baby of the family Felix and his girlfriend Zee.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mDVLBBwsgU4/UikGlemX9YI/AAAAAAAADYY/GuCjUg0S1_A/s1600/Crampton-Midline.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mDVLBBwsgU4/UikGlemX9YI/AAAAAAAADYY/GuCjUg0S1_A/s1600/Crampton-Midline.jpg" height="295" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Side note of irreverence... 2013 is the 35th anniversary of Halloween but this was made in 2011, so happy coincidence that it got released now?<br />
<br />
Not too irrelevant when you can see the influence of Carpenters masterpiece in You're Next... The POV shots, the monotonous, in a good way, and repetitive score. Seriously I loved the music in this movie.... Very Argento in parts, (especially the part where Erin is doing her best Home Alone impression.)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wjWkJpH3qk4/UikN7F_mV9I/AAAAAAAADZA/RSHIgbI5mr0/s1600/youre-next-premiere.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wjWkJpH3qk4/UikN7F_mV9I/AAAAAAAADZA/RSHIgbI5mr0/s1600/youre-next-premiere.jpg" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Music suddenly cutting out as the scene changes was effective and gave a jarring effect on me watching it, making me notice the music more... A real feature and not just background noise... Music was really used to set tone, a dark and often comic tone that could only work when the movie went so dark that I was left with nothing but a reaction to laugh. <br />
<br />
Adam Wingard swept me along, there is no down time in this movie, I'm not saying there isn't a breather here or there when the action picks up but I never got bored and there was plenty of moments to get to know and care about the family... When the only daughter in the brood goes to make a run to the cars... And as her brother and father swing the doors open and she passes the threshold her throat is sliced by almost invisible wire. I laughed... At first. <br />
<br />
I was expecting her to get shot as soon as he doors opened but the sudden throat slitting was like a well placed punch line. Then as she is slowly dying, bleeding out on the floor with her family panicking around her, it had the reverse effect on me, and I wad suddenly on the verge of the room getting a little dusty. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VzdXzdwYqh8/UijGTYlv72I/AAAAAAAADX0/nTINNfccDsg/s1600/youre_next_ver7_xlg.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VzdXzdwYqh8/UijGTYlv72I/AAAAAAAADX0/nTINNfccDsg/s1600/youre_next_ver7_xlg.jpg" height="640" width="428" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Had we gotten to know Amiee? She had arrived with her documentary underground filmmaker boyfriend and we had been told that she was her daddy's little princess. Not too much to go on but we can infer from the families interactions so much about her life up to this point. To me she is like the rest in that she comes from a wealthy family, privileged and so when she heads off to an Art College, as she doesn't need to follow her father into business like her older brother, she hooks up with Ti West's character. What we see of him before he is killed with an arrow is that he's an "underground" documentary filmmaker.<br />
<br />
The paring of Aimee and Tariq makes sense, I can see she probably has travelled the world and is interested in helping those less fortunate.<br />
<br />
Yeah, I make my own versions of characters lives a lot.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-D4smzsKXYf0/UijGKwTuxeI/AAAAAAAADXo/hyLmFizP36g/s1600/You_re_Next_32955.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-D4smzsKXYf0/UijGKwTuxeI/AAAAAAAADXo/hyLmFizP36g/s1600/You_re_Next_32955.jpg" height="166" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Anyways...<br />
<br />
And before she makes a run for it to the cars... She expresses how her parents had never believed in her... And she would do this selfless act to help save her family and prove to them she is as capable as her brothers. I was routing her on but I wad expecting her to die relatively quickly and I wasn't hardly expecting the cars to be in working order. <br />
<br />
But more than all that is that my younger sister is called Amy too. That hit a little close to home. Just like Andrea having to shoot Amy in The Walking Dead... Age difference was similar in that case too.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ufwEnr6-ptI/UijGKw1NtMI/AAAAAAAADXs/xHLxxU2hmQQ/s1600/Luke-Insect-youre-next.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ufwEnr6-ptI/UijGKw1NtMI/AAAAAAAADXs/xHLxxU2hmQQ/s1600/Luke-Insect-youre-next.jpg" height="640" width="434" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Another use of music in the movie which is great is the song 'Looking for the Magic' by Dwight Twilley Band being stuck on repeat at the neighbors. I'm not sure when the movie is supposed to be set but this gives the same weight and feeling in time that the use of The Zombies and Dead Man's Bones did in The Conjuring.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The song even has Tom Petty on guitar. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/l24DFbedbJ0?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<br />
Speaking of nudity on the movie... I wasn't but now that I am. I didn't find it exploitative, it was using the conventions of horror. We didn't see Erin bare any skin and she almost survived... She was literally raised on a survivalist colony. A little fact she had yet to disclose to her boyfriend Crispian.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Bnxk_nM4TOU/Uii0ItC9ABI/AAAAAAAADXU/VcvgGPn6aLo/s1600/Youre-Next.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Bnxk_nM4TOU/Uii0ItC9ABI/AAAAAAAADXU/VcvgGPn6aLo/s1600/Youre-Next.jpg" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
But she went out like Ben did at the end of Night of the Living Dead. Yet the ending feels fresh but lets not forget this was done many decades ago. Perhaps it's part of a trend of downer endings. But this was after all filmed back in 2011 and has went through Lionsgate buying Summit, and therefore acquiring this movie. So we've had time to get hyped up. I'm sure the hard core horror nuts know about other hard core horror fans having tattoos of this movie, or The Alamo Drafthouse having painted a 'You're Next' emblem on the building, up until it's renovations at least.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8gFwl0k0N8k/UikKI122OKI/AAAAAAAADYs/RSRdS491-2w/s1600/MM+2011+You're+Next+street+art.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8gFwl0k0N8k/UikKI122OKI/AAAAAAAADYs/RSRdS491-2w/s1600/MM+2011+You're+Next+street+art.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I put this sort of hype out of my mind and was expecting something akin to The Strangers, which had been hyped up for me to begin with. That movie and this are both pretty awesome.<br />
<br />
So I was pretty much very impressed with this movie, especially as its a movie that answers the question that me and my sister often ask at the end of a slasher.... How does the survivor girl explain all the killings? (Hatchet III did a good job in trying to answer this question too.)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-N4Vee0ooVpk/UikKpNbTkcI/AAAAAAAADY0/_xO8r-23lao/s1600/youre-next-sharni-vinson-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-N4Vee0ooVpk/UikKpNbTkcI/AAAAAAAADY0/_xO8r-23lao/s1600/youre-next-sharni-vinson-2.jpg" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
She doesn't get a chance to... As the cop turns up when she is defending herself and it looks to an outsider that she is the deranged killer and he shoots her.<br />
<br />
<br />
Which a normal horror movie cop wouldn't do as we all know cops in slasher are useless... But sometimes if Wes Craven liked you... Invincible. (Not that the cop makes it out of the movie either.)<br />
<br />
<br />
So I'm some sort of conclusion... See this in cinemas if you can, pick it up on home release or Netflix it... whatever just show the studios that horror is profitable.<br />
<br />
<br />

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
First off I'd like to thank all involved in this project and how welcoming they all are, great bunch of guys! They really deserved their project to be successfully funded!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-qH3Gc9pGSdg/Ug6XS1bKLQI/AAAAAAAADOY/_JD_6FJLVHg/s1600/fundedyay.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-qH3Gc9pGSdg/Ug6XS1bKLQI/AAAAAAAADOY/_JD_6FJLVHg/s1600/fundedyay.png" height="244" width="320" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Can you tell readers a little summary of 'Welcome to the Bubs' and what you hope to accomplish in the future with this project, as I know you are already an award winning filmmaker?</b><br />
<b><br /></b></div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
Tony – Welcome to the Bubs is a story about what is the difference between survival and living, and do we as people deserve to live after something like a Zombie Apocalypse.<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rIBo4Su0onM/Ug6u6UHnN0I/AAAAAAAADOo/Tcx6uRwYgL0/s1600/97f37a011994fc49e6edf75364abc1e2_large.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rIBo4Su0onM/Ug6u6UHnN0I/AAAAAAAADOo/Tcx6uRwYgL0/s1600/97f37a011994fc49e6edf75364abc1e2_large.png" height="119" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<b>Where did the idea spring from for 'Welcome to the Bubs'?</b><br />
<b><br /></b></div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
Tony – The idea came from a joke we had about seeing Zombies in odd situations, and originally we toyed with a situation comedy and a groan track instead of a laugh track, but soon realized that would be funny for about 30 seconds… so then we morphed that into a story we thought would be a little different and fun to see.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5npwbhzZ2PU/Uhf4oZWvbwI/AAAAAAAADQU/yWq8s0Jl6b8/s1600/wttb2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5npwbhzZ2PU/Uhf4oZWvbwI/AAAAAAAADQU/yWq8s0Jl6b8/s1600/wttb2.png" height="208" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>How will your zombies be set apart from zombies we have seen in media in the past?</b></div>
<div>
<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
Kyle - Our zombies will be different in that some have been "domesticated". We've only seen a glimpse of such in past films ie. Day of the Dead and Shaun of the Dead.<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
Tony – I am a George Romero fan and so my goal is to fit in that world, I loved what Tom Savini did in Day of the Dead, and the spirit of those zombies.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-MaRwYSs5R-8/Uhf4G4ppCEI/AAAAAAAADQM/eYWO2yH_I-Y/s1600/shooting2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-MaRwYSs5R-8/Uhf4G4ppCEI/AAAAAAAADQM/eYWO2yH_I-Y/s1600/shooting2.png" height="260" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>What is your involvement with Welcome to the Bubs?</b><br />
<b><br /></b></div>
<div>
Anissa Matlock - I play ZL19, the one with the end-goal in mind at all times. I also do a little behind the scenes work: Choreographing fights, assisting with Zombie recruitment, and I'll also be assisting our Key SFX Makeup Artist with the zombification process.<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
Josh Milligan - I'm an executive producer, location scout, script editor/contributor and many more jobs. Basically if Tony needs something, I make it happen, **cough** squirrel dinner.</div>
<div>
<br />
Kyle Moncrief - My involvement with Welcome to the Bubs is making Tony's vision a reality, with a few surprises dropped in. I'm the "Key SFX Makeup Artist".</div>
<div>
<br />
Tony Reames – I am the Director, and the guy with the camera. I am the one that comes up with crazy ideas and present them to these guys and they go, yeah let’s do it even BIGGER…<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hr6Gx_1I6OI/Uhf2-RUsotI/AAAAAAAADP0/fCTLnNIxJ4s/s1600/wttb.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hr6Gx_1I6OI/Uhf2-RUsotI/AAAAAAAADP0/fCTLnNIxJ4s/s1600/wttb.png" height="192" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>What interested you about this project?</b><br />
<b><br /></b></div>
<div>
Anissa - I see it as a great opportunity to gain experience in my field. I also really love Zombies.</div>
<div>
<br />
Josh - The word zombie, what else do you need more than zombies. As a group we morphed a simple commercial contest into a short.</div>
<div>
<br />
Kyle - My interest in this project is to do the very best I can to make the audience believe what they're watching! Maybe get noticed and .... I'm with Josh, "Zombies! What more do you need!"</div>
<div>
<br />
Tony – Personally I love shooting shorts, and I went to school in Pittsburgh so I still go back to the<br />
Monroeville Mall when I am home (from original Dawn of the Dead), it’s like a zombie mecca. </div>
<div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sdnCWvAE2BA/Uhf2CIvw8gI/AAAAAAAADPs/gGUhhHhCUsM/s1600/NFTpop144.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sdnCWvAE2BA/Uhf2CIvw8gI/AAAAAAAADPs/gGUhhHhCUsM/s1600/NFTpop144.gif" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<b>Why do you think it's important to support indie film?</b><br />
<b><br /></b></div>
<div>
Anissa - Indie filmmaking is what is bringing about our future big-time filmmakers. I think the world wants more than just cookie-cutter-Hollywood-style films and the way to get them is to support independent filmmakers and their craft.</div>
<div>
<br />
Josh - Indie films are important because they keep the movie industry moving. Indie films do not need heavy backers in order to create something everybody wants to see. Indie films helps the dedicated film maker's dreams going and it shows the film industry that the dedicated can make things happen just as well if not better than the larger muggles.</div>
<div>
<br />
Kyle - It's important to support indie filmmaking as the most innovative and imaginative ideas spring forth from the simple passion and drive to see a project to fruition! No constraints of public opinion during preproduction. I mean, what would Netflix do to fill their libraries without Indie films, can I get an "Amen"!?</div>
<div>
<br />
Tony – I grew up on B-Movie/Grindhouse/Indie movies. Anything from Motel Hell all the way to El Mariachi, and I think the most inventive creative people come from situations where they had to do more<br />
with less.</div>
<div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Y3MNOo46CR4/Uhf5oTMeAQI/AAAAAAAADQg/EPb35ExE5DE/s1600/scouting.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Y3MNOo46CR4/Uhf5oTMeAQI/AAAAAAAADQg/EPb35ExE5DE/s1600/scouting.png" height="265" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<b>When is “Welcome to the Bubs” being released?</b><br />
<b><br /></b></div>
<div>
Tony – We are still finishing up principle photography then we have editing and post, so we are hoping to have it ready to screen in the late Spring.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-q5Ub6l7esyQ/Uhf3sko0xGI/AAAAAAAADQE/i9BDdgIf8q4/s1600/shooting.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-q5Ub6l7esyQ/Uhf3sko0xGI/AAAAAAAADQE/i9BDdgIf8q4/s1600/shooting.png" height="257" width="400" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>How is this different from other Zombie movies?</b></div>
<div>
<br />
Tony – Well this story take place long after the apocalypse, and is about a small group of survivors who want to stop surviving and go back to living.</div>
<div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jWS2X67fE5U/Uhf3XntsiII/AAAAAAAADP8/WY4sELlOodM/s1600/pop8.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jWS2X67fE5U/Uhf3XntsiII/AAAAAAAADP8/WY4sELlOodM/s1600/pop8.png" height="263" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<b>It was a great idea to place the outcome in the hands of the backers, why did you trust the fate of the survivors in their hands?</b><br />
<b><br /></b></div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
Tony – This is an experiment. I always hear people say that they like this ending or that ending, and 9 times out of 10 it is the typical ending where everything is summed up nicely and makes the audience feel better about the whole journey. This time I want the people to tell us, we want it to end this way…. We wrote two endings, and one is a nice neat ending, and the other is dark and left open… we shall see what people want.</div>
<div>
<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Who do you admire in the field of special effects and make up and what has drawn you to it?</b><br />
<b><br /></b></div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
Kyle - Frankly I have many influences and mentors. Dick Smith, Rick Baker and Stan Winston are idols! I was making paper masks and hats as early as 4 yrs. old, the rest is history.<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
Tony – As a kid I LOVED ILM and applied for an internship every year. And got very cool rejection letters every year. So I would say pretty much the same as Kyle, but maybe add Ray Harryhausen, I LOVED his work too.</div>
<div>
<br />
</div>
<div>
<b>Who are your favourite horror characters and what makes them iconic and memorable to you?</b><br />
<b><br /></b></div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
Kyle - Predator, an intergalactic hunter. Raw, primal, yet intelligent! H.R. Giger's Alien, much like zombies, yet faster and you're completely aware of the infestation and pain! And Ed Gein, he is a real American freakshow!! Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Silence of the Lambs and Psycho were all based on Ed Gein's real life!<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
Tony – As a kid of the 80’s I have to say Jason Voorhies, Freddy Kreuger, and of course Ash from Evil Dead. I love that time period for film. Growing up they just seemed larger than life.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pzLJD2-2l6M/Uhf7yimYyaI/AAAAAAAADQs/verhLeyv5wY/s1600/kanehodder.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pzLJD2-2l6M/Uhf7yimYyaI/AAAAAAAADQs/verhLeyv5wY/s1600/kanehodder.png" height="292" width="400" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br />
<br />
</div>
<div>
<b>Why after so many decades do you think zombies are such a popular sub-genre?</b><br />
<b><br /></b></div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
Tony – They say that zombie movies gain popularity in times of economic crisis, I am not sure how true this is, but the good movies have always had something to say about the current climate in our culture. I think its popular now because of Walking Dead and the fact that they are telling it from a different perspective and making it about life’s struggles. Like my wife says to people, I love Walking Dead and I am not one of those people that likes Zombies, blech.</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0O_J5Vg5fF4/Uhf8YeU0fGI/AAAAAAAADQ0/gtagiQJ5iuA/s1600/twd.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0O_J5Vg5fF4/Uhf8YeU0fGI/AAAAAAAADQ0/gtagiQJ5iuA/s1600/twd.png" height="400" width="298" /></a></div>
<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>What was your first horror movie that had an impact on you and what was the movie/film maker that drew you into the love of filmmaking?</b><br />
<b><br /></b></div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
Tony – Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and not because I liked it. My dad rented it for me when I was a kid, and I will never forget I was eating a Dairy Queen hamburger and the scene where the guy gets into the van and starts acting all crazy, I got nauseated and sick. To this day I remember it, and I am not sure if it was food poisoning or that horrible creepy guy. But it stuck with me, so kudos to you Tobe Hooper.<br />
<br />

<br /></div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>What would you list as your top 3 movies of all time?</b><br />
<b><br /></b></div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
Tony – Empire Strikes Back, Army of Darkness, and Hitchcock’s Rope. Odd choices huh?</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
My top 3 Zombie movies of all time:</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
1.> Dawn of the Dead (original)</div>
<div>
2.> Night of the Comet</div>
<div>
3.> Dance of the Dead<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
<b>And do you have a list of Guilty Pleasures?</b></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Tony – I don’t watch much TV, but I do watch two shows EVERY time, Psych and Colbert Report, do those count?</div>
<div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/rEgnZ05PaMg?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<br />
<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Of course tv counts, and those are pretty awesome shows nothing to be guilty about there... I play spot the pineapple too. Favourite zombie kill in a comic/tv show/movie?</b><br />
<b><br /></b></div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
Kyle - Favorite zombie kill has got to be the recent head stomps on Walking Dead S3!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/v3iczH9O66s?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
Tony – hmm. I think the Scene from Friday the 13th when Jason jumps through the window after the woman. I remember this because I remember levitating off the couch</div>
<div>
<br />
<br />
<b>Where can we learn more about the project and what can movie fans do to help now?</b></div>
<div>
<br />
Tony – you can visit us on the web: <a href="https://www.blogger.com/%C2%A0http://www.WelcomeToTheBubs.com" target="_blank"> http://www.WelcomeToTheBubs.com</a>, Twitter <a href="https://twitter.com/Welcome2TheBubs" target="_blank">@Welcome2TheBubs</a>, and Facebook: <a href="http://fb.com/WelcomeToTheBubs">http://fb.com/WelcomeToTheBubs</a></div>
<div>
<br />
We are going to need help getting the word out once its complete, and hopefully we can get some screenings at festivals.<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
And if all goes well, we can shoot the sequel “Greenville 66” which is both a prequel and a sequel.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Lets support indie movies... you don't like what the studios churn out year after year... well help the little guy, where they don't need to stick to a formula or aim at money off certain demographics... its all about creativity!<br />
<br />
One last thing... Needed to post this too, these guys are so awesome that the Fake Shemp that is Bruce "The King, Baby" Campbell retweeted them.<br />

</div><div style="text-align: center;">1993</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Jurassic Park<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Ic6-pOqFzXQ/UhIOWo0HjhI/AAAAAAAADPA/9BAYHLQ1jmc/s1600/l_107290_1b870eb1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Ic6-pOqFzXQ/UhIOWo0HjhI/AAAAAAAADPA/9BAYHLQ1jmc/s1600/l_107290_1b870eb1.jpg" height="320" width="214" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<br />
I'm feeling like I'm picking all the popular and obvious movies but sometimes movies are popular for a reason. Jurassic Park was a chunk of my childhood, dinosaurs were a chunk of it (Go in the first upstairs cupboard and at the back you will find a shit load of books on Dinosaurs from my youth) along with Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers and Sonic the Hedgehog.<br />
<br />
So to anyone that hasn't seen this movie... if those people exist... basically John Hammond, the adorable Santa like grandpa played by Richard Attenborough, has figured out a way to replicate dinosaurs from mosquito blood. He is going to open a nature park with the dinosaurs in for the public but before he can he needs the ok from a group of scientists, and off they set to preview the park taking Hammonds grandchildren with them. Inevitably a power failure throws a spanner in the works and the dinosaurs are set free on the island.<br />
<br />
Now why do I love this movie?<br />
<br />
If I could give one reason why this movie... The music.<br />
<br />
John Williams you scored my childhood, and I can revisit it any time I hear the Jurassic Park theme.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/PJlmYh27MHg?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Yeah this bit can still make the room a little dusty. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">To me the movie, the effects, the themes/message still holds up... not that I rate "still holding up today" as important. A movie looking and feeling a part of the time it was made is all good to me, and I don't really go in for calling movies "dated" because movies are clearly a product of and reflective of the time in which they are made... that said, this really is an all time classic.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">As for themes I feel the science vs. nature, the whole "because we can does not mean we should." We are nature then every advance we make is natural... but then the Dinosaurs had their chance and failed. Nature evolves and the world is not the same as it was when the Dinosaurs had their turn on Earth.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This story could be seen as a family friendly version of the Frankenstein story. Man is creator. Man is God. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Money made the characters short sighted... sure John Hammond wanted everyone, rich or poor to experience Jurassic Park, but he hardly had the deal worked out with the suits to that effect. Before the park is open the corporate suits already have heaps of merchandise, and that's where their priorities are.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I also freakin' love the relationships between the children Lex and Tim and Dr. Grant and Dr. Sattler. The children idolize them, which I find refreshing and they provide great role models. I love how it is Ellie who gets to go be action woman, and Alan who looks after the grandchildren of John Hammond. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><br />

It was so hard to pass up "Brain Dead" it really was but for nostalgia for me it has to be Aladdin. I remember I had the Aladdin McDonald toys, the dolls with their different outfits, the sticker and coloring books and pyjamas, the Sega game, the handheld game, I got two Aladdin VHS's on Christmas. I fookin' loved this movie and then the tv show, the sequels... not so much.<br />

I remember where I was sitting (End of the row, left half of the seats, 2 thirds down), in which screen (2) which cinema (Odeon, and it's no longer open) when I first saw this with my Grandad. <br /></div>
Peter Capaldi.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<object width="320" height="266" class="BLOGGER-youtube-video" classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0" data-thumbnail-src="https://ytimg.googleusercontent.com/vi/Zu_5Lw1DiIs/0.jpg"><param name="movie" value="https://youtube.googleapis.com/v/Zu_5Lw1DiIs&source=uds" /><param name="bgcolor" value="#FFFFFF" /><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><embed width="320" height="266" src="https://youtube.googleapis.com/v/Zu_5Lw1DiIs&source=uds" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object></div>
<br />
<br />
My reaction went a lot like this...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/FJbmB9k2Y88?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<br />
<br />
"YES! YES! YES!" *unable to breathe* "Oh you beautiful beautiful man of Scottishness!" and then my mother was all "It's more important than a new Prime Minister or that Royal baby isn't it..." To me yes. But even I was "It's only a tv show... but I still couldn't be happier."<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PqjxOOH8mjI/Uf8hHuNv1qI/AAAAAAAAC2U/zpVur9Eh8fU/s1600/tumblr_mr0958kiB91sadkc2o1_250.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PqjxOOH8mjI/Uf8hHuNv1qI/AAAAAAAAC2U/zpVur9Eh8fU/s1600/tumblr_mr0958kiB91sadkc2o1_250.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
To be fair as soon as Zoe Ball was just getting ready to announce who was The Doctor, I realized I wasn't breathing... Welcome to the life of a Geek!<br />
<br />
Then we just saw his hand and my mind was all "He's old and white... maybe it really is John Hurt cause where does he fit in all this and if not what if it really is Peter Capaldi but the internet said it might be so it won't be... Oh please don't be that old dude from Cutting It cause I don't know him let it be Malcolm fucking Tucker-" and then she said it and I jumped up and down a fair bit. Ahhhh!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I think I've spent most of the time since on Tumblr... doing shit like this...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ne1DUyInKyg/Uf8hpfcYh4I/AAAAAAAAC2c/uTjvWhd8l8o/s1600/pb47+(1).png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ne1DUyInKyg/Uf8hpfcYh4I/AAAAAAAAC2c/uTjvWhd8l8o/s1600/pb47+(1).png" height="320" width="213" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
And thinking about what a badass he's going to be... he can give the most intense stares... (check out the vid below when he is called a "bully" no really check out his magnificent sassy ass stare.) Fook I love him before the announcement and now I'm hyping him up to be in my heart as much as Christopher Ecclestons Doctor is... I love them all but he has a special place.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/DUm5rM4fQxs?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
For those who don't know, my favourite thing Peter has done is play Malcolm Tucker in political comedy "The Thick of It"... he's bloody fantastic. And here's a video for those who haven't seen the show, or want to refresh in their minds just what we are getting for out next Doctor... also not for the faint of heart... :D<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/JjAyazqtQj8?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<br />
<br />
So in closing, I'm more than delighted with the Moffats choice for The Doctor,<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-IOhlO__6czw/Uf8ibS0M-NI/AAAAAAAAC2s/adP-61vWkes/s1600/tumblr_mr0rnfqrHd1qcgogyo1_500.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-IOhlO__6czw/Uf8ibS0M-NI/AAAAAAAAC2s/adP-61vWkes/s1600/tumblr_mr0rnfqrHd1qcgogyo1_500.png" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
bring on the 50th Anniversary special and bring on the regeneration at Christmas. (Oh and I am sad to see Matt going but at least we get him teaming up with Tennant before he bows out.)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-__LjDefroug/Uf8jPsjVZcI/AAAAAAAAC24/fGfNmfgXYkQ/s1600/Matt_Smith_and_David_Tennant_video_interview__Our_Doctors_get_on_quite_well.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-__LjDefroug/Uf8jPsjVZcI/AAAAAAAAC24/fGfNmfgXYkQ/s1600/Matt_Smith_and_David_Tennant_video_interview__Our_Doctors_get_on_quite_well.jpg" height="193" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
and to hell with wanting it to be someone my sister would watch... cause she went out and didn't even watch the live special with us. Nor did she ask who it was when she returned, only asking "CC (for that's what she calls me... doesn't sound much like Rachel, I grant you, but she calls me it anyways) you look happy, you alright?" and when I simply answered "Yes." (because I was still thinking about Peter Capaldi) she told me that I looked like Sheldon.<br />

Frak yeah! One of my all time favourite movies (this and the original... not so bothered about anything after this although I do enjoy the Sarah Connor Chronicles.)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I recently read Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Life Story</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It was fascinating to read, well I am an Arnie fan, about the work that simply went into him shooting a gun whilst riding a motorcycle without blinking. "Reps, reps, reps".</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
(I was disappointed there wasn't more about Batman and Robin and no apology for it.)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
All the decisions that went into making Arnie the badass we have come to know and love, especially after he plays the villain in the first movie. The way our expectations are flipped. We have Arnie returning looking more awesome than the first, being pitted against clean cut Robert Patrick as the cop who is there to "protect and serve". </div>

I love Sarah Connor too, lets not forget her bad-assery. She's like a feral cat, protecting her offspring for the good of all mankind. Her emotions squashed so she can complete her goal, keep John alive and in that she's made herself into a killing machine. She needs to find her humanity once more after being broken out of the nuthouse.</div>

They took Arnie's obscure name, went against everything people were telling him and used it to their advantage. They took his "otherworldliness", his "foreignness" and built upon it. His physical presence used to its fullest, I mean he certainly wasn't born to be a Shakespearean actor, but the lines he does deliver are instantly memorable, and instant classics.</div>

The character of the Terminator became a part of popular culture, and its great that the movie itself backs it up, actually deserves it's success. The leaps they took in effects are still fantastic to watch all these years later. Thank you James Cameron, Damn I love this man.<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
No I really do love it, but I love the even more gay book, that clearly has Ninny and Idgie as two separate people... something that got blurred in the movie.<br />
<br />
But the better movie, I think we can all agree is T2... but what's your pick of 1991?<br />

Yeah sure you could but when I was working off one list (a snap shot I took from January 1st 2013) the list was ever changing.<br />
<br />
So I've not abandoned the list... but it seems more like a lifelong goal to keep up with the movers and shakers of the list. I mean right now "Let the Right One In" (2008) is not on the list, but was when I started this. To be fair I'd already seen that when it first came out but I was going to revisit it solely for the purpose of it crept up on the list.<br />
<br />
Now its off the List I've put my plans to revisit it to the back of my mind, even though its a fantastic movie.<br />
<br />
Another case in point, "Perks of Being a Wallflower" has disappeared and been replaced by "Arsenic and Old Lace". This happens all the time, but luckily I found sites which notes these changes.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://top250.info/" target="_blank">IMDb Top 250 Informer</a><br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.took.nl/250/" target="_blank">IMDb Top 250 History</a><br />
<br />
(I'm preferring the latter as it has a more similar layout to that of the IMBd site and you can see clearly what new movies are in, and a nice feature of what past movies have been in the list for one day, but the Informer site lets you track what you've seen on that site if you register, so either or both is good. Though you can check-in to what you watch on IMDb itself so there's that...)<br />
<br />
Where before I was trying to watch all movies, including those I'd seen before, now I'm concentrating on those I never have. (And not just those from the IMDb Top 250, just movies I've generally never seen... re- my last "List of Shame" post)<br />
<br />
So in closing, no I've not given up, I've just changed the rules on myself.<br />

To be fair to him his list is obscure and there's no shame in not having seen the movies he cites... unless your us. Yep a horror geek that feel the need to see the classics, the cheesy, the rare and mysterious.<br />
<br />
This made me go look at what I'd watched this month so far... and yes we are 3 days in, but that's 3 days of Movie Geekness... and what had I watched... oh nothing but movies I'd never seen before.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-u4SDLfIpdpQ/Uf1ZWImPXWI/AAAAAAAACz0/5RE6VrcVZVs/s1600/31956362761713402372.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-u4SDLfIpdpQ/Uf1ZWImPXWI/AAAAAAAACz0/5RE6VrcVZVs/s1600/31956362761713402372.jpg" height="320" width="267" /></a></div>
<br />
<b>Shadow People</b><br />
<br />
Recent movie, sure and not even sure how I stumbled upon it on youtube. I've watched strange creepypasta-esque vids on youtube before but it was middle of the AM's on the 1st and I can't honestly remember how I found this. I saw Dallas Roberts was in it and he's cute so I gave it a go on that alone. I kinda liked it for the most part but its nothing I'd be all "YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS!!" about. If you're interested in fake documentaries, cause they try to in the style of The Fourth Kind splice scenes in with the "actual" people its "based on" then give it a go, it's worth the one watch.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-q6S7PIfgpvo/Uf0xsBnOA8I/AAAAAAAACy0/0obQisd73aA/s1600/DreadedSundown.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-q6S7PIfgpvo/Uf0xsBnOA8I/AAAAAAAACy0/0obQisd73aA/s1600/DreadedSundown.jpg" height="320" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
<b>The Town That Dreaded Sundown (1976)</b><br />
<b><br /></b>
I guess I first remember hearing this referenced by Sidney and Dewey in Scream, and ever since wanted to see it. I thought I had years earlier saw it but that turned out to be 'Near Dark'... yeah I dunno how I could have ever confused the two either.<br />
<br />
After having watched it... I wasn't exactly blown away by anything but its effects. I can see how this one had passed me by, but still so glad I can say I've seen it.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Bmv1aRTK9m4/Uf00tsN3-zI/AAAAAAAACzE/m_kRwQg52Jk/s1600/The-Thing.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Bmv1aRTK9m4/Uf00tsN3-zI/AAAAAAAACzE/m_kRwQg52Jk/s1600/The-Thing.jpg" height="320" width="204" /></a></div>
<br />
<b>The Thing From Another World (1951)</b><br />
<br />
Now this one I was ashamed to not remembering much of, sure I'd caught bits on the TV as a child but being on in the wee hours I remember falling asleep so I could never say I'd seen it.<br />
<br />
I can't believe with my love of John Carpenters remake (yes I have the Fright Rags T-Shirt) that it took me until I'm 25 to see this.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dYfKS-ysZAU/Uf01cYorMzI/AAAAAAAACzM/Ukq1OWrxiKA/s1600/invasion_of_the_saucer_men.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dYfKS-ysZAU/Uf01cYorMzI/AAAAAAAACzM/Ukq1OWrxiKA/s1600/invasion_of_the_saucer_men.jpg" height="320" width="201" /></a></div>
<br />
<b>Invasion of the Saucer Men (1957)</b><br />
<b><br /></b>
I had<b> </b>known of this movie purely by the poster for years and I love cheesy old sci-fi so I was glad to check this off the "Never Seen" list.<br />
<b><br /></b>
<b><br /></b>
<b><br /></b>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hF0WkDEJhvk/Uf04yo0OyRI/AAAAAAAACzc/QSJ3f0Ye3cc/s1600/220px-The_Prowler.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hF0WkDEJhvk/Uf04yo0OyRI/AAAAAAAACzc/QSJ3f0Ye3cc/s1600/220px-The_Prowler.jpg" height="320" width="210" /></a></div>
<b>The Prowler (1981)</b><br />
<br />
I scarcely knew of this movie, I'd seen a T-Shirt of it on Fright Rags, and knew little beyond that. I'm always interested in seeing old slashers that never got the sequels or infamy that the likes of Jason, Freddy or Michael got. So for being an old slasher I was glad for that alone to tick it off.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--s2__TMaPxs/Uf05dAcZWOI/AAAAAAAACzk/0xKF0hhEnLE/s1600/vhs2posew_big.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--s2__TMaPxs/Uf05dAcZWOI/AAAAAAAACzk/0xKF0hhEnLE/s1600/vhs2posew_big.jpg" height="320" width="216" /></a></div>
<br />
<b>V/H/S/2 (2013)</b><br />
<br />
I liked the first one and I really liked this one too. Sure some parts look so bad, like amateurs with camcorders bad but as a whole I like the anthology concept which hasn't seen the light of popularity in forever and if you are not enjoying one segment, don't worry another will be up in a few.<br />
<br />
First up is "Phase I Clinical Trials" which is creepy but not creepy enough once they show you way too much but good use of an eye-camera I guess?<br />
<br />
I think I liked the "A Ride in the Park" segment the best, because of my love of zombies. I liked the way that was filmed with the dudes helmet cam, and so we get to see part of the segment from the zombies perspective.<br />
<br />
"Slumber Party Alien Abduction" was cool if a tad obvious in their alien design, maybe coulda came up with something original but still that poor dog.<br />
<br />
"Safe Haven" was a whole load of awesome, and what-the-fuck!?! I'd recommend watching that segment alone if you're determined to skip the rest of the movie, not my favourite but perhaps the best.<br />
<br />
Y'know even if you were a hater of the first one, just skip to the segments to give them a go in this one, the wrap around story is bad so FFW'd that if ya like but watch the end of it, that's kinda ok.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
So I'm gonna try a week of it, movies I've never seen. So far I've got lined up... thanks to Brandon "Something Wicked This Way Comes", which I've wanted to see since I saw Reece Sheersmith mention it on some TV show... maybe one of those countdown 100 Best shows, I'm not sure since Mark Gatiss has done a few horror specials for BBC4 maybe it crept up amongst one of those. I remember Reece saying that he took inspiration for the circus coming to town in "The League of Gentlemen" with Papa Lazarou.<br />

"Eyes Without a Face", always knew the poster and that it was "good" but never got my arse round to seeing it, oh but that will change... I hope.<br />

<br />
I'm also gonna get my ass to see John Carpenters "In the Mouth of Madness". It crept up on some horror list, perhaps on BloodyDisgusting of "how many of these horror movies have you seen equals how much of a horror fan you are" and this was one of the few I hadn't seen. Again I've known of it since I was young but it never became a rental. Let's add "Lifeforce" to the list of movies from horror directors I've never seen too.<br />
<br />
I also also want to see "Ice Cream Man", another poster I remember but my mother wouldn't let me rent it, and we rented lots of horrors... heck mostly horrors in my youth but she thought it looked bad, and yeah it does but I like bad. So I'm gonna get my ass to see that in the next few days too. And yes I use that tagline any time I have Ice Cream "I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream" with friends, even though I've never seen the movie... shame on me. But more seriously, look at that poster, doesn't that scream awesome bad movie...? Well I hope so.<br />

<br />
<br />
Oh and 'The Conjuring' came out this weekend here so I've got to go see that, really rather excited about that one.<br />
<br />
What is on your own personal list of shame? Be it big block busters or genre obscurities that you know you should watch but somehow have managed to put off all your life... and any recommendations for me that I have to see, bring them forth and I will watch.<br />

Doctor Who?<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-k5ERa-vMo0Q/UfzhAmkG_sI/AAAAAAAACwY/OXV4b6iliz0/s1600/1Doctor+Who+(3).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-k5ERa-vMo0Q/UfzhAmkG_sI/AAAAAAAACwY/OXV4b6iliz0/s1600/1Doctor+Who+(3).jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></td></tr>

<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
The time comes once more... there's to be a new Doctor. I'd be more than happy to wait until the Christmas Day episode to find out but that's not going to happen. And now I know we are all going to find out together on Sunday... I cannot wait!<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I'm going to be glued to my tv on Sunday evening with the rest of the Whovian world to find out who is who next.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bnWe3bZhFGI/Ufzh0KThyxI/AAAAAAAACwk/a7jRgMgUvng/s1600/doctorwhoowls.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bnWe3bZhFGI/Ufzh0KThyxI/AAAAAAAACwk/a7jRgMgUvng/s1600/doctorwhoowls.jpg" height="180" width="320" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Wasn't it John Hurt at the end of the last episode? Or does he slot into the timeline before Christopher Eccleston. (Damn I loved me some "fantastic" Eccleston) Whatever, its sure to be a great 50th Anniversary episode and Christmas Changeover. And Moffat has promised to wrap his storylines up... But since we were given an episode called "The Name of The Doctor" and we got nowhere with that, I'm not holding my breath...<br />

<br />
<br />
or Harry Melling (Purely because he is the grandson of 2nd Doctor Patrick Troughton) or make the Doctor ginger but it does not have to be our very own Ronald Weasley, because The Doctor wants to be ginger, he's never been ginger. Hey give us ginger and a girl.<br />
<br />
This is purely selfish on my part, I'm not a Harry Potter fan, but I don't dislike it either. No but my sister is a big Harry Potter fan and casting someone from it would make her watch Doctor Who. Properly. Sure she's dabbled and owns a lovely Doctor Who bag but ever since David Tennant left nobody else in my family really watches it much. Shame on them, cause I bloody love Matt Smith.<br />
<br />

<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I like to go into a new Doctor with little impressions, I want this new person to become the Doctor but if I can't have that give me someone who is a fantastic actor... and maybe someone my sister would watch. Who do you want to be The Doctor?<br />

<br />
We go into a movie with prior knowledge, from trailers and stills and on-set reports and interviews and posters and reading the book or comic it's based on or having seen the original, all this information and expectations.<br />
<br />
I try to keep my expectations low in the words of Otis B. Driftwood "So I'm never disappointed." But movies are hyped or a friend tells you its the most awesome thing and this only sets us up for a fall, for expectations to be dashed.<br />
<br />
I often try to go into seeing a movie on gut instinct alone, with as little information as possible. Take 'The Conjuring' coming out here tomorrow, I've only seen two posters for it and literally sat in the cinema with headphones in during the trailers and eyes closed to avoid some trailers, this being one on them. I want to go in knowing nothing. All I need is, "Its a horror" and I like Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga. That sold me on it. Nothing more. I did the same for the Evil Dead remake, and after I saw the movie I went and watched the trailer to see if I was justified in my strange behaviour of avoiding trailers... yes, yes I was. The trailer shows you all the "money shots".<br />
<br />
Remember folks, the film-makers do not cut the trailer, that's the studio, they don't care if they spoil the movie for you, they don't care if the final shot is in the trailer (That Rec remake Quarantine... I'm looking at you.) Their goal is bums in seats.<br />
<br />
But these thoughts made me realize something...<br />
<br />
Its now August, yeah already huh? (Not long now til Second Christmas aka Halloween and then actually Christmas, of which I do already have technically two presents for, tickets to see Less Than Jake/Reel Big Fish co-head-liner tour) And I haven't changed my calendar yet... I wonder what beautiful bus it will be this month! (Yeah my mom bought me a calendar of Buses, its a thing we do, try to find the shittest calendar for each other possible, mine to her? I got her 'goats in trees'... check out Miss. December if you can... truly terrifying.)<br />
<br />
You, gentle (or not so) reader, may have noticed I sorta kinda gave up on the IMDB Top 250, sort of... well yeah. And here's a little of why...<br />
<br />
Y'see I have a problem with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 being in the IMDB Top 250, you can only enjoy it with a hell of a lot of prior knowledge.<br />
<br />
I did not want to watch the last in a long series just to tick it off the list, me being me, would have to watch the whole series.<br />
<br />
If one is in the list, the lot should be, like Peter Jackson's LOTR's and now the Hobbit, or none at all.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KcbWqvrJV7c/Ufq17xBXvDI/AAAAAAAACsU/pBsInpj0Hxc/s1600/PJ.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="96" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KcbWqvrJV7c/Ufq17xBXvDI/AAAAAAAACsU/pBsInpj0Hxc/s1600/PJ.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I'm not giving up on the list entirely, it is a fine list, for the most part. I have found it odd that where music is concerned I care nothing for the Top 40 or Billboard Chart, what's popular in music does not always seem to be good.<br />
<br />
The difference I noticed with the "Top" lists of movies is they generally do tend to be good. Box Office numbers and "Best Of" lists do not coincide, but somewhere in the middle are lots of people out there with good taste. People going out in droves to see a new Transformers movie does not make it good... an example of box office and "good" not intersecting, but the success of Avengers is warranted, a good movie doing good business.<br />
<br />
And case in point, the Avengers... can you see it without seeing all the movies leading up to it? I do not honestly know as I've came at it from a comic geek perspective and all the prior knowledge that entails.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-oqydDsQfd9Q/Ufq3LyCsniI/AAAAAAAACsk/NLOlPkxOjSc/s1600/tn_the_avengers_movie_2012-HD.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="179" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-oqydDsQfd9Q/Ufq3LyCsniI/AAAAAAAACsk/NLOlPkxOjSc/s1600/tn_the_avengers_movie_2012-HD.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
If I remember correctly, and I do, a friend went to see The Avengers without seeing most of the previous movies, and him and his boys enjoyed the movie, I'm pretty sure his kids knew the other movies but he was oblivious when I asked about which previous movie he liked and he had only seen the first Iron Man.<br />
<br />
Recently I saw the Wolverine, and I go in with my geek brain and it all makes sense, but does everyone?<br />
<br />
I heard people and read people be confused by Prof. X rolling up at the end during the mid-credits scene... was I the only one that made it to the end of The Last Stand? (Yeah and I like that movie. Surprised? David Hine was too when I met him.)<br />
<br />
<br />
And for those who haven't...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/Jc7WVGIA1Eg?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<br />
Even seeing Magneto floating shit in the airport answered the question that hung at the end of The Last Stand... did that chess piece move? Or no?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/1lbxI9FRseI?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
...and an aside, Hugh Jackman looks the most like a comic book Logan than he ever has before, supposedly he didn't consume any water for 36 hours prior to filming his shirtless scenes to make himself lose the "water weight" and look more "cut" and "trim" on camera, dude the headaches were worth it, he looks fierce.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-z9IvAbJhuQ0/Ufq0PoXajBI/AAAAAAAACrs/nrIKycgDeEs/s1600/tn_The-Wolverine-Best-Character-Wallpaper.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="202" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-z9IvAbJhuQ0/Ufq0PoXajBI/AAAAAAAACrs/nrIKycgDeEs/s1600/tn_The-Wolverine-Best-Character-Wallpaper.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
So has anyone went into these movies without seeing the previous movies? Can you and enjoy them? I guess that's why by Saw V there was so much flashbacks and intertwining of timeline throughout the entire Saw series... they were made that way for the people that saw the previous movies once, the previous year in the cinema. Or perhaps the Rocky movies that start with the finale of the previous movie due to the audience not expected to have seen it just before going into the new movie, forget VHS the audience needed to be caught up again as they wouldn't have seen the previous movie since they first saw it. And forget what us Movie Geeks do now or what the cinemas provide, a marathon before the new movie. Before The Hobbit I went to a Lord of the Rings-a-thon, before The World's End coming out, fans could see Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and then The World's End in some cinemas.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-gWmYehWcFyI/UfrDeKxoJgI/AAAAAAAACtE/ApZQvDctIQo/s1600/tn_blood-and-ice-cream-trilogy-poster-06192013-022431.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-gWmYehWcFyI/UfrDeKxoJgI/AAAAAAAACtE/ApZQvDctIQo/s1600/tn_blood-and-ice-cream-trilogy-poster-06192013-022431.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
(If you're a movie geek you know you do it too... before seeing The Dark Knight Rises, I re-watched Batman Begins and The Dark Knight... you know you did too.) But now movies don't need to do that, cause we have all the prior knowledge... we no longer need the recaps, the Sunset Beach effect.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8Lr_HRb5k0o/Ufq6bWS0W5I/AAAAAAAACs0/87Co_yUoY0E/s1600/tn_Subelogo.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="241" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8Lr_HRb5k0o/Ufq6bWS0W5I/AAAAAAAACs0/87Co_yUoY0E/s1600/tn_Subelogo.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
I also started to pick up a lot of <a href="http://eurekavideo.co.uk/" target="_blank">Eureka!</a> releases (which do include some Billy Wilder, F.W Murnau, Fritz Lang, and Orson Welles) and I generally like to explore movies that are on the more obscure side of things. Sure it's good to say you've watched a lot of the Top movies of all time but I started to feel like I was just watching what other people said were good and not finding my own good movies. I got through a fair few and have generally seen most of them now, just not all in this year like I had planned to.<br />
<br />
I'd roughly say out of the current list (not the one I was working from... remember it changes all the time) that there's about 30 that I haven't seen. Which ain't too bad I reckon. There's a few out of them that have been on my "To Watch" list for a while and for the effort I put in earlier in the year I'll try to get round to watching new entries on the list that were not there on my list from the start of the year.<br />

This was an almost toss of the coin between Misery and Goodfellas, and how did I decide without a coin? I went to IMDB, and saw my ratings for these, turns out I gave Misery a 9, and Goodfellas an 8. So I gotta go with that.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br />
Plus I reckon the book maybe my fav King book but the film is an entity unto itself. I love the addition of scenes with the Sheriff, he brings much needed humour to the confined hell Paul is going through... he gives us a break from the claustrophobic situation at the centre of the movie.</div>

<br />
Here's my plea to horror fans of the world over, get involved.<br />
<br />
We all like to talk, write, post videos of our opinions but what I've been missing for a long time, long time as in years was a decent forum to discuss horror movies.<br />
<br />
And when browsing on IMDB I came across a link to a really new forum, Under The Morgue.<br />
<br />
I followed the white rabbit there, and joined and have been addicted for an entire day.<br />
<br />
All the members there, which there were only 22 before me are all so friendly, respectful, opinionated and awesome that I'm putting the link out there, to you, whoever is reading this.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://w11.zetaboards.com/All_Things_Horror/index/" target="_blank">Under The Morgue</a><br />
<br />
The board is very much in its infancy, so wanna get in on the ground level, see how the site develops, be part of its development (the banner for instance is just temporary, they are working on original art work) and help make the forum as awesome as it can be cause only we, the members, the horror fans can do it.<br />
<br />
I really hope to see horror nuts there. Stop by and say hi, I'm going inevitably by Fake_Shemp there, surprising? No.<br />
<br />
Come, join, introduce yourself... I'll be waiting. :)<br />

This is more nostalgia for me than anything else. I don't like that Ariel falls for the first human she sets her big beautiful eyes on but she's supposed to be a teen right? A fangirl of humanity? So it works as a pairing for me if I check my brain at the door and go with the songs and just enjoy the movie... and surely no female can watch this and not burst into song especially when you hear "Look at this stuff... isnt it neat?"<br />

<br />
Is me writing that its more nostalgia than anything else doing the movie short? I guess I'd have to go back and ask child me how good it was...<br />
<br />
Adult me - Well lets hop in a TARDIS and go see child me, sounds like fun?<br />
<b>Vwrrop Vwrrop Vwrrop Vwrrop</b><br />
Child me - Hey a TARDIS.. cooooool<br />
Adult me - Hey me, I'm writing a review for my blog, your blog...<br />
Child me - What's a-<br />
Adult me - Pretend its homework, it doesn't matter.<br />
Child me - I don't wanna do homework, can't I just watch the X-Files instead?<br />
Adult me - Sure I'll just go get the DVDs<br />
Child me - What are DVDs?<br />
Adult me - Oh brother!<br />
Child me - Whoa we get a brother?<br />
Adult me - No, a sister. Anyways what do you think of 'The Little Mermaid'?<br />
Child me - It's lovely, but I wouldn't know right now cause our mother gave away the video to a friend. Who does that?<br />
Adult me - Oh right, I suppressed that memory. Not cool. Don't worry mini-me, you buy it again on VHS and then again on DVD and you will buy it on Blu-ray.<br />
Child me - Why do you need it that many times?<br />
Adult me - I don't know, I came here to ask you why I would do that and love the movie so much.<br />
Child me - Maybe you're yearning for your lost childhood and want to buy it many times to make up for the one time our mother gave it away.<br />
Adult me - Perhaps.<br />
Child me - How've you got a TARDIS anyways?<br />
Adult me - I don't, this, me, you are all words in a blog that the physical form of me is writing right now whilst watching 'The Maltese Falcon'<br />
Child me - That sounds cool.<br />
Adult me - You wouldn't like it yet, you'll first see it when your in a class at uni, you still won't appreciate it then because you're a little tipsy from pints at lunch.<br />
Child me - Eurgh drink is bad.<br />
Adult me - Yeah you think that now too. So the movie, for the sake of me coming all the way here in this construct.. what did you think of it?<br />
Child me - The end makes me feel sad, happy endings to movies do, and I don't know why. The disney logo itself already means my childhood to me, some ominous feeling that its all slipping by, time and I wanna grasp it and never let it go... and then she gave away the movie, she did the same with 'A Christmas Story'<br />
Adult me - It's ok, you've got it on DVD now and watch it every Christmas with your sister.<br />
Child me - Cool, if I can still love movies, I can still love 'A Little Mermaid' all those, your, years later then that's awesome. I'm glad you, we, still get to experience childhood through a movie. I guess the movie is the TARDIS huh?</div>

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uuc99-VvP14/UTC31g68BDI/AAAAAAAABbk/h_169YLHiU0/s1600/401421.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uuc99-VvP14/UTC31g68BDI/AAAAAAAABbk/h_169YLHiU0/s1600/401421.jpg" height="348" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
There was two animes that stood out straight away for me as my movie of 1988, My Neighbor Totoro and Akira. Whilst one of the first animes I was ever introduced to in my teen years was Akira, I simply enjoy the cuteness of Totoro more.<br />
<br />
Or it is that I enjoy the relationship me and my own younger sister have with this movie. I first introduced her to Studio Ghibli with 'Spirited Away', much as I had been, and when she had wanted more I went with Totoro, knowing she'd never, at her then young age, give Grave of the Fireflies or Princess Mononoke a go.<br />
<br />
She often blames me if she hasn't seen a movie, and its about time now she should watch more movies from the studio, but she's gravitated to the cute ones, Ponyo included in the former ones I have mentioned.<br />
<br />
Let me mark the movie itself on merit, not on just my relationship with it. It's Hayao Miyazaki's most personal film, with albeighit not much of a plot, though that has never bothered me. It's lovely to watch. It's more about the characters, their interactions and the unfamiliar world they inhabit. The two leads, young sisters Satsuki and Mei feel like children.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://ic.pics.livejournal.com/dreamsofpaprika/17993146/301631/301631_original.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://ic.pics.livejournal.com/dreamsofpaprika/17993146/301631/301631_original.jpg" height="223" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The way they move, behave, explore and talk feels so real in this beautifully drawn animated world, and its so joyful to watch, that the lack of tension and plot do not come into my overall enjoyment of the piece.<br />
<br />
So which do you prefer Totoro or Akira? Or is there a movie I should have considered from 1988 that is neither of these two?<br />

<br />
Yeah I'm sentimental like that.<br />
<br />
I watch Independence Day on July 4th, Die Hard at Christmastime, and Planes, Trains and Automobiles at Thanksgiving.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_x8KOKJFYRSU/S-4xtSYzk8I/AAAAAAAAAFI/_iwP7rBBym0/s1600/Mothers-day.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_x8KOKJFYRSU/S-4xtSYzk8I/AAAAAAAAAFI/_iwP7rBBym0/s1600/Mothers-day.jpg" height="400" width="358" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
This viewing is only my second viewing, the first being at the cinema. I missed the opening of the movie the first time due to the projectionist being crappy at their job. The cinema was packed and it seemed only me and my friends could tell that the ratio was all wrong. We nipped out, talked to staff, got it fixed and came back to the movie looking correct.<br />
<br />
I wonder how long it would have taken any of the rest of the audience to notice or realize it was wrong.<br />
<br />
So back to the movie itself.<br />
<br />
This home invasion movie is intense. Really fraking intense.<br />
<br />
So a bunch of friends are having a small party, and boom, their home is invaded by the Koffin family, the previous owners of the home.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
It's got quite the horror sci-fi geeky cast...<br />
<br />
In the title role of Mother is Rebecca De Mornay.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-U21YV0BhktM/UTzp4QITtZI/AAAAAAAABbw/dVQ3arluljg/s1600/ScreenShot093.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-U21YV0BhktM/UTzp4QITtZI/AAAAAAAABbw/dVQ3arluljg/s1600/ScreenShot093.png" height="176" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
She's the quietly psychotic head of the Koffin family. She has pushed her neurosis and troubles onto her children, each one an extension of her. I wouldn't call her or her family "evil" because as the movie unfolds people on both sides of this hostage situation do things of questionable morality.<br />
<br />
<br />
The Koffin children<br />
<br />
Patrick John Flueger as the eldest son, Ike.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hLfv1PlY1Vw/UT0JL35aPeI/AAAAAAAABc4/TS7WKCYU8ow/s1600/Patrick-John-Flueger-in-Mothers-Day.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hLfv1PlY1Vw/UT0JL35aPeI/AAAAAAAABc4/TS7WKCYU8ow/s1600/Patrick-John-Flueger-in-Mothers-Day.jpg" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
He assumes the role of leader. He ends up taking Beth, the new owner of his childhood home, to her shop to pick up cash from the safe. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Along the way they encounter two girls, played by horror alum A.J Cook and Alexa Vega. Whilst threatening the two girls with his gun, he says he will let one go. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-EBGLOGeN0L0/UT0NEFo8NQI/AAAAAAAABdQ/3AGYIaHtnSU/s1600/mothers_day_05.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-EBGLOGeN0L0/UT0NEFo8NQI/AAAAAAAABdQ/3AGYIaHtnSU/s1600/mothers_day_05.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
He will let the girl who will stab the other girl go. Scenarios like this play out a lot in this movie, the family forcing the hand of those "innocent" people they encounter. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The middle brother, Addley, is played by Warren Kole</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-MJvpuud99rE/UT0LyWaXV1I/AAAAAAAABdA/o0tF3Wzq-dg/s1600/tumblr_m8aiy5cc8O1qdsa2jo1_400.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-MJvpuud99rE/UT0LyWaXV1I/AAAAAAAABdA/o0tF3Wzq-dg/s1600/tumblr_m8aiy5cc8O1qdsa2jo1_400.gif" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Addley is the unprectable, unhinged classic middle child. He seems to be playing up and acting out to get attention, but always on the heels of his older brother Ike. Trying to live up to his older brother, become the leader.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Next is the baby of the Koffin family, Johnny, played by Matt O'Leary.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-AxAh9PGIqzo/UT0Mwh1qyFI/AAAAAAAABdI/DjlUAaWvC6Q/s1600/photo-Mother-s-Day-2010-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-AxAh9PGIqzo/UT0Mwh1qyFI/AAAAAAAABdI/DjlUAaWvC6Q/s1600/photo-Mother-s-Day-2010-2.jpg" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
I'm gonna call him careless and clumsy because he's the youngest, and because he gets injured and needs to be cared for by one of the Ashmore twins.<br />
<br />
As he lays dying he's crying in pain to his mother about how he's never had a woman. Mother goes ahead and gets her boys to get her youngest a woman. How they go about this? Have two of the men they have hostage battle it out, loser has his woman raped by the dying Johnny.<br />
<br />
Then there is the fourth sibling, the only girl, Lydia played by Deborah Ann Woll<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wyFFDzQgjOE/UT0P6wYG9dI/AAAAAAAABdY/4GTmsXtkNDc/s1600/mothersday_0293.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wyFFDzQgjOE/UT0P6wYG9dI/AAAAAAAABdY/4GTmsXtkNDc/s1600/mothersday_0293.jpg" height="134" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
She is quiet, and hides away literally behind her hair, in her clothes. Her interactions with one of the hostages, a doctor who is caring for her dying brother brings her out of her shell. But was she better left in it? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
She, along with the rest of her siblings, have been brought up in a confined and closed off world. Everything bad that may have happened to her mother is channelled into her. Every bad thing that her mother thinks could happen to her only daughter is what makes her build up these walls around herself, making her a scared insecure woman.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
Now we have the woman who bought the house. Jaime King as Beth.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-1uKBfQ22mV0/UTzq7B2QQYI/AAAAAAAABb4/4jXIgjsP0Fc/s1600/Jaime-King-in-Mothers-Day-3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-1uKBfQ22mV0/UTzq7B2QQYI/AAAAAAAABb4/4jXIgjsP0Fc/s1600/Jaime-King-in-Mothers-Day-3.jpg" height="187" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Arguments could be put forward that every shitty thing that happens to her friends... she could have prevented from the start... but then her actions serve her. She puts her own survival, and the survival of her unborn baby ahead of everyone else. But then what would you do in her situation?<br />
<br />
Beth had been stashing the money that the family is looking for from her cheating husband and wants to use it to start a new life.<br />
<br />
Her husband, Daniel, is played by Frank Grillo.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-14PiSyKmJXA/UT0T4d1WhQI/AAAAAAAABdg/CA2aS-nRUJs/s1600/Daniel_Sohapi.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-14PiSyKmJXA/UT0T4d1WhQI/AAAAAAAABdg/CA2aS-nRUJs/s1600/Daniel_Sohapi.png" /></a></div>
<br />
When he and his wife Beth are questioned about the money by Mother, she believes Beth when she says she knows nothing about it, but she does not believe Daniel. And neither did I.<br />
<br />
You can tell something is off about this guy, but it wasn't the money he was hiding, it was his affair.<br />
<br />
To try and get information about the money out of Daniel, Mother gets her sons to break his hand with a pool ball. This is the scene where on first viewing I thought he was cheating. Beth screams out for their captors to stop smashing in his hand, and the only other woman at the party to cry out is Julie.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mZjatggee0Y/UT0VC5du0EI/AAAAAAAABdo/2qMzSdrAgok/s1600/mother's+day+2.bmp" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mZjatggee0Y/UT0VC5du0EI/AAAAAAAABdo/2qMzSdrAgok/s1600/mother's+day+2.bmp" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The other friends consist of two couples. The Jacksons, played by Lyriq Bent and Kandyse McClure.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kYCcY_XTP9k/UT0WgZwz-zI/AAAAAAAABdw/3cqS6ELhtFU/s1600/IMG_0708.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kYCcY_XTP9k/UT0WgZwz-zI/AAAAAAAABdw/3cqS6ELhtFU/s1600/IMG_0708.jpg" height="320" width="243" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qv9rbVYn0xI/UT0WgSkrrFI/AAAAAAAABd0/UWXvsY92v-E/s1600/MV5BMTk3OTg5NTYzOF5BMl5BanBnXkFyZXN1bWU@._V1._SY314_CR8,0,214,314_.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qv9rbVYn0xI/UT0WgSkrrFI/AAAAAAAABd0/UWXvsY92v-E/s1600/MV5BMTk3OTg5NTYzOF5BMl5BanBnXkFyZXN1bWU@._V1._SY314_CR8,0,214,314_.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Treshawn fights for her to not be raped, smashing in a man's face who before hand he was calling a friend and once the scenario is put to the two men, to fight for which of their women won't get raped, they say they are not even friends.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Treshawn is accused of not learning his lesson, and told he never listens to Mother. His punishment, to have boiling water poured into his ears. Later as he's trying to escape he accidentally shoots his wife. It's so sad, not only cause it's obviously sad but because she had escaped but Daniel made her come back otherwise everyone else would get shot.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The other couple are not married but he is planning on proposing to his girlfriend. Dave Lowe, played by Tony Nappo, and Annette Langston played by Briana Evigan.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>

<br />
He winds up with his head blown off, the effect looks amazing.<br />
<br />
Anywhos this certainly gets a recommendation from me, as long as you can stomach it, and are willing to face some harsh scenes and question everyones morality in this movie, then have fun!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
A group of kids take a vacation at a cabin in the woods. Woods are full of Demons, Candarian Demons if we wanna get a bit more specific. The Demons possess people, Ash must be super strong willed as they only get his hand. Cue hilarious scenes in which Ash is beat the fuck up by his hand... and then cuts it off. Groovy. (Yeah he goes insane after having to kill his demon possessed girlfriend Linda, which is a literal hoot, with the furnishings joining in with his manic laughter)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In this sequel we are introduced to new characters, the daughter of the couple who's cabin it is. She is also of the Indian Jones persuasion and is returning to the cabin in the woods with her boyfriend and their shit load of luggage. So they pay good old reliable Jake and his girlfriend to drive them out into the woods.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I figure at least the boyfriend, Jake and his girlfriend are there to pad out the numbers to which bad shit will happen to. And that's all well and good and gorey.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Back to Ash.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
He returns as sole survivor from the first movie, but due to the guys not owning their own footage, they had to reshoot a portion of the first movie, well they didn't have to but back in the days when films like Rocky II or III etc, would open with the last 5 minutes of the previous film as a way of catch-up, VHS I figure was not as big as the home market is now and people may literally have only seen the previous movie once in the cinema before going to see the next sequel. (None of this "having a Saw Marathon" before the next Saw came out like I did in previous years.) So its a convention of the time.</div>

Why do I love Ash?</div>

Oh Ashley Williams you big chinned loveable jackass. He is the right amount of wimp and hero when nobody else will be with awesome one liners. Thats why I love Ash, he's a normal guy with a girls name. Well a gender neutral name, and that fits with the survivor final girl theme of having a gender neutral name. Sure its not applicable in all cases but I do like how it often crops up... Sidney Prescott, Laurie Strode, Taylor Gentry.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The over the top stooge comedy balances the gore, and makes the gore itself laugh out loud funny. Every shot and angle is interesting with the sound mix adding perfectly to the visuals. This is proof that having little money simply spurns on creativity and imagination.</div>
